In 2010, Andrew’s grandfather invited him in to learn the family trade. He apprenticed in his grandfather’s clock repair shop, learning the work firsthand — not from a manual, from someone who’d been doing it his whole life.
We opened Hour Hands in 2012. We repair and restore grandfather clocks, mantle clocks, wall clocks, and cuckoo clocks — real mechanical work, done right, no shortcuts.
Every clock has a story. Some are just starting one.
Most of the clocks that come through our shop aren’t just timekeepers. They’re a wedding gift, something brought back from a trip overseas, a grandmother’s mantle clock, a marker of someone’s career. Many of them have already been passed down two or three generations before they reach us.
Other times, it’s the opposite — someone’s just found their first clock. An estate sale, an antique shop, something that caught their eye. That clock hasn’t started its story yet. We get to be part of the beginning of that chain, instead of the middle of it.
Either way, it’s not sentimentality — it’s a connection to the past, and something meant to keep going. We take that seriously. It’s part of why we do the work the way we do it.

This is where the real skill matters. Movement repair, case work, full restorations — in-shop or at your house.
Dial Refinishing
Hand-done. We keep the character of the original dial and fix what’s damaged.
House Calls, Pickup & Delivery
We’ll come to you. Free service calls and pickup/delivery across West Michigan.
